Neurodiversity-Affirming Athletic Training & Community Support

Why Movement-Based Support Matters

Many individuals, especially those who are neurodivergent, learn and grow best through movement, repetition, structure, and relational coaching. By combining professional athletic training with neurodiversity-affirming support, Read React & Ball offers a unique bridge between therapy and everyday life.

Our Approach

Travis George brings specialized experience supporting neurodivergent athletes and individuals, including those with ADHD and Autism. He has trained and worked at Camp Baker, a Harvard-affiliated therapeutic summer program serving children with ADHD, where he developed skills in behavioral support, structure, motivation, and engagement.

As a community partner with Hazel Approach Psych Services, PLLC, Travis supports individuals with neurodevelopmental and psychological needs in carrying out therapeutic goals in real-world, community-based settings. His work complements clinical treatment by translating therapeutic objectives into action-oriented, physical, and confidence-building experiences.

How Athletic Training Supports Therapeutic Goals

Drawing on athleticism, structure, and coaching principles, Travis helps individuals work toward goals such as:

  • Building confidence and self-esteem
  • Developing assertiveness and appropriate boundaries
  • Improving body awareness and proprioception
  • Enhancing emotional regulation through movement
  • Increasing follow-through, persistence, and task initiation
  • Strengthening mind–body connection
  • Practicing social engagement and communication in natural settings

Who This Support Is For

This approach may be especially beneficial for:

  • Children, adolescents, or adults with ADHD
  • Individuals on the Autism spectrum
  • Individuals working through anxiety or OCD-related challenges
  • Athletes or non-athletes who benefit from movement-based learning
  • Individuals working on confidence, independence, or self-regulation
  • Individuals seeking support in improving self-esteem in general
  • Clients seeking community-based skill generalization alongside therapy

Integration Options

Support can be integrated into:

  • Basketball skills training
  • Fitness and conditioning sessions
  • Community-based activity coaching
  • Therapeutic goal reinforcement (in collaboration with clinicians)

Collaborative, Not Clinical

Travis does not provide psychotherapy. His role is to serve as a skilled athletic and community-based support, working collaboratively with families and clinicians when appropriate. This model allows therapeutic goals to be practiced, embodied, and reinforced in real-world contexts, where lasting growth happens.

Sessions are strengths-based and affirming, with an emphasis on meeting individuals where they are, honoring neurodiversity, and fostering autonomy and competence.
