Meet Coach Travis George

Travis George

Travis George is a professional basketball player and elite performance trainer with over 15 years of high level playing experience and a passion for helping athletes grow in confidence, skill, and discipline on and off the court. Standing 6’9” and playing most of his career as a power forward, Travis brings real world insight into what it takes to train, compete, and thrive as a developing athlete.

Born and raised in Guyana, Travis was introduced to basketball early. His mother was a professional basketball player, and the game was part of daily life long before he moved to Boston as a teenager. That foundation, combined with his later training in the United States, shaped his belief that basketball is not just about talent, but about consistency, mindset, and learning how to use your body effectively.

Travis went on to play professionally in the NBA G League and internationally across Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Panama, Argentina, Venezuela, Iran, and Thailand. Competing around the world taught him how to adapt to different coaching styles, systems, and levels of play. He now brings that experience directly into his training sessions.

As a coach, Travis specializes in:

  • Skill development including footwork, post play, shooting mechanics, and court awareness
  • Strength and conditioning for basketball specific movement
  • Training tall athletes who are still growing into their bodies
  • Building confidence, discipline, and game IQ

He also has specialized experience working with youth who benefit from structured, supportive coaching environments, including athletes with ADHD or autism. Through his work as a Sports Lead Counselor with the Judge Baker Children’s Center summer program in partnership with Harvard, Travis developed an approach that balances patience and encouragement with clear expectations and high standards.

Today, Coach Travis works with youth, teens, and young adults at all levels, from beginners learning the fundamentals to competitive players looking to sharpen their game. He remains actively competitive in local leagues, stays in top tier physical condition, and is currently completing his personal training certification to further strengthen the science behind his coaching.

Parents and athletes value Travis for his direct but supportive style, his ability to connect with players, and his focus on long term development, not just short term results. Whether the goal is to build confidence, improve conditioning, learn proper fundamentals, prepare for competitive play, or train with someone who truly understands the mental and physical demands of being a tall athlete, Coach Travis brings the experience, structure, and energy to help athletes grow.
